video Krispy Kreme customer films 'bugs' crawling in doughnut glaze thumbnail

A DISGUSTED Krispy Kreme customer has posted a video online appearing to show bugs crawling through the shop’s doughnut glaze.

The woman also claimed staff were using utensils after dropping them on the floor and “touching the floor with the same hands they handled the doughnuts with”.

Writing alongside her video post, she said: “The black spots you see coming through are BUGS that were crawling on the machine and FALLING into the glaze.

“One employee even dropped a spatula, picking it up and proceeded to scrape the belt the doughnuts were coming off!

“After expressing my concern with the supervisor, he shrugged me off. Needless to say I didn’t get doughnuts.”

The footage has been viewed more than 115,900 times since being posted on October 27.
Krispy Kreme denied bugs were spotted in the doughnut glaze in the North Carolina store, claiming the lumps were doughnut crumbs.

A company spokesperson said: “Because of our commitment to quality, we also wanted to reiterate that we took your claim seriously conducted and a thorough investigation into the matter.

“This included having a professional pest control company conduct an extensive review of the store this morning.

"They concluded that there were no signs of bugs anywhere in the shop, and we were able to determine that what is depicted in your video was in fact doughnut crumbs and not bugs.

"We hope you will accept our apology and return to the store. We value your business and your expectation to be treated with respect and courtesy."
