This palatial abode looks like the nest of a rock star but is actually the home of an accomplished surgeon. The Palm Beach, Florida residence belongs to Republican presidential hopeful Benjamin Carson. Carson was until his retirement in 2013, the head of paediatric surgery at The John Hopkins and is renowned for successfully separating conjoined twins.

He and his wife, Candy purchased the property in 2013 for $775K but are now looking to move it on for $1.2million. The 6,155 sq/ft property has five bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms, a formal dining room and formal dining room, a breakfast area, a media room, and a family room.
There is an open-plan kitchen, fitted with custom cabinets, granite counter tops and top-of-the-range stainless steel appliances. The couple have already bought a new place in Palm Beach Gardens - an almost 9,000-square-foot mansion, in a similar mock-Mediterranean style, which they purchased for $4.375million.
The retired 65-year-old surgeon has been selected by Trump to be secretary of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
