Ghanaian Kumahood actress, Christiana Awuni has joined the host of other
 celebrities to take up ‘witches’ role in movies. Speaking of the new 
roles in an interview with Kasapa FM, she disclosed that most movie 
directors see her as the best substitute for the role of a witch in

In order to clear fleeing Boko Haram terrorists hibernating within 
remote and border areas, Nigerian and Cameroonian troops have carried 
out another joint operation to weed out Boko Haram terrorists along 
Nigeria and Cameroon border. The two days joint operation which was led 
by Col Dourai and Lt Col Mohaman of the Cameroonian Defence Forces had 
troops drawn from the Cameroon’s Battalion Rapid Intervention (BRI) and 
151 Task Force Battalion of 21 Brigade, Nigerian Army.<br />

During the operation which ended yesterday Tuesday, troops of the two 
countries cleared Siyara, Kote, Sigawa and proceeded to Bulabundibe 
towns. Other areas cleared include AdeleKe, Tchatike and Lamukura

While conducting the operation the troops came in contact with Boko 
Haram terrorists and neutralized many of them, apprehended 2 others, 
while many other terrorists escaped with gunshot wounds.<br />

While Addressing the Joint troops, at the conclusion of the clearance 
operation, the team leader, Col Dourai, stated that the operation was

The British High Commission in Abuja has debunked a report by UK 
newspaper, The Observer, which claimed that former President Goodluck 
Jonathan administration rejected the offer by the  British Royal Armed 
Force (RAF) to help rescue over 200 Chibok  schoolgirls kidnapped by 
Boko Haram in 2014.<br />

The former president had swiftly denied the allegations and urged 
newspapers to "always cross-check their facts before rushing to publish 
false information, especially when being spread by those who want to 
unfairly promote their own pride, against our own national interest"<br />

In response to enquiries by THISDAY’s  sister broadcast station, Arise 
News Network, the British High  Commission on Tuesday, March 7th, said 
the allegation that the RAF was over the area for a number of months and
 actually located the girls within weeks, but the Nigerian government 
under former President Jonathan turned down its offer to rescue the 
girls, “was false”. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Also reinforcing this, the UK’s  Permanent Representative to the United 
Nations Security Council and head of the delegation to the Lake Chad 
region, Ambassador Mathew Rycroft,  dismissed the allegation when the 
question was put forward to him during a press briefing <span class="aBn" data-term="goog_1405171007" tabindex="0"><span class="aQJ"><span style="color: #222222;">on Monday</span></span></span>.</div>
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
"The British High Commissioner briefed me on that today (<span class="aBn" data-term="goog_1405171008" tabindex="0"><span class="aQJ"><span style="color: #222222;">Monday</span></span></span>) and said that the allegations are not true," Rycroft said.</blockquote>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
When pressed for further clarifications by Arise TV, he directed all enquiries to the British High Commissioner to Nigeria.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
However, the British High Commission, in its statement, said “a more 
cordial, collaborative and unified approach between Nigeria and her 
allies than the reported differences was used”.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The statement added: “UK worked with the US and France to provide a 
range of military and intelligence support  to the Nigerian government 
in their search (for the Chibok girls), and  in fact, a wider effort to 
address the longer term challenge of  terrorism.</div>

"But importantly, we won’t comment on  specific additional details, 
which is a matter for the Nigerian  government and the military."</blockquote>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Speaking on the overall objective of the visit, Rycroft said the Boko  
Haram crisis was “one of the most neglected crisis and we want to shine a
 spotlight on that crisis”.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The envoy also urged the global  community including the governments of 
the Lake Chad region to step up  and respond to the crisis before it is 
too late.</div>

"Part of that crisis is terrorism and we stand with the government and 
people of this region and particularly  the government of Nigeria in 
confronting Boko Haram in the Lake Chad  Basin region. The UN Security 
Council applauds the works of the MNJTF.</blockquote>

"Talking about the UN sending a  peacekeeping force: that has not been 
requested by the government of  Nigeria, I am aware. That we can do as a
 bilateral agreement with the  government of Nigeria,"  he added.<br />

A 50-year-old Ghanaian man from Asuboi-Wawase in Ayensuano District of 
the Eastern Region, has landed his 8-year-old daughter at the hospital 
after attacking her with a cutlass. The victim was reportedly crushing 
palm nuts with a friend of hers, but when her dad returned from the 
farm, and saw what they were doing, he yelled, chased and attacked her 
with a cutlass wounding her in the head.<br />
<a href="https://www.blogger.com/null" name="more"></a>According to the girl's aunt, Comfort Dogah, she 
returned from a voyage on Saturday night and saw the cut on the girl the
 next day (Sunday).<br />

Narrating the ordeal to Class FM, the victim said she never offended her
 dad saying 'I was crushing palm nuts with my mates when he came 
threatening to beat us.<br />

'He got hold of my friend and beat her while I bolted; while I was 
running, he threw the cutlass to hit me,' the eight-year-old narrated.</blockquote>
Yaw Dogah, the suspect, after committing the crime reportedly fled the area.<br />

victim is currently on admission at the Suhum Government Hospital.

Minister of Power, Works and Housing Babatunde Fashola has 
denied allegations made by Lagos State Governor, Ambode that he 
is frustrating the government of Lagos State’s  efforts to rebuild the 
International Airport /Oshodi Road.

Fashola in a statement made by his Spkesperson, Hakeem Bello said:<br />

“The allegations of lack of cooperation from the Ministry and 
frustration of Lagos State Government development initiatives are simply
 not true and the facts do not bear them out. </blockquote>
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
“In 2016, the Hon Minister for Power Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde 
Raji  Fashola, SAN, approved the use of the Federal Ministry of Works 
yard at Oworonsoki for Lagos State Government to create a lay-by to ease
 traffic.</blockquote>
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
“The Hon Minister also approved that Lagos State be granted the Rights 
to manage the Street Lighting on the 3rd Mainland Bridge to support the 
security initiatives of the State, a request which the previous Federal 
Government administration had denied Lagos State for years.
“During the same year, the Hon Minister also supported the approval of 
the World Bank Loan of $200m to Lagos State, again a request the 
previous administration had denied Lagos State. </blockquote>
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
“As far as International Airport Road which is currently the ground for 
alleged “frustration” is concerned, the correct position is that the 
Lagos State Government presented a  request for four roads that it would
 wish to take over. </blockquote>
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
“This is consistent with the position being canvassed by the Hon 
Minisiter for states who are interested to apply to take over roads that
 are within their states.
“The Ministry has presented the Memorandum conveying the request of the 
Lagos State government to the Federal Executive Council as was done with
 a similar request by the Kaduna State government in 2016. </blockquote>
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
“Due to the fact that two of the roads also connect Ogun State, the 
Federal Executive Council could not reach an immediate decision on them 
because it requested the input of the other state government affected. </blockquote>
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
“The Kaduna State government requested the Federal Government to 
transfer two roads within Kaduna Metropolis to the state in November 
2015. Due process was followed and the request of the state government 
was approved in August 2016, a period of ten months. </blockquote>
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
“Federal Executive Councill Memorandum are debated and commented upon by
 all members and in cases of roads, surveys, maps and other material 
have to be provided to assist members understand the location and 
connectivity of the roads, (in this case Four roads), in order to assist
 how they vote on the Memorandum.
“As far as the Presidential Lodge is concerned, it is under the 
management of the Presidency and not the Ministry.
“After the approval by Mr President that the Presidential Lodge be 
handed over to the State Government, there was a directive to the 
Ministry to work out the modalities for handing over. </blockquote>
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
“The ministry has prepared a vesting instrument to convey the transfer 
and all that is needed is a survey plan.
“The Presidential Lodge is a high security location and officials of the
 Ministry also require security clearance to enter in order to do any 
works. </blockquote>
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
“Access to the lodge is not under the control of the Ministry.The motive
 behind this public accusations must therefore be scrutinised coming 
barely a week after the governor spoke with the Honorable Minister, Mr 
Babatunde Fashola SAN on the outstanding requests of the State for 
several minutes and the Minister took time to explain the situation of 
things to the governor. (The first telephone conversation the governor 
has had with the minister since May 29, 2015).
“If there is any lack of co-operation it is on the part of the state 
government that has refused to acknowledge not to talk of approving the 
Ministry’s request for Land of the National Housing Programme in Lagos. </blockquote>
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
“The ministry is not frustrated by this lack of response and remains 
optimistic that a response will come from Lagos State.
“The ministry remains committed to serving the government and good 
people of Lagos and will treat all their requests on merit and in 
accordance with necessary due process as will be done to other states.
“As far as the refund of N51Billion is concerned, this is not a new 
item. Almost all if not all states have these claims and the Federal 
Ministry of Power Works and Housing has verified these claims. </blockquote>
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
“What is left is the process of raising the finance to pay the debt owed
 to the States.
“Those who are familiar with the workings of Government will attest to 
the fact that it is an intricate sequence of processses, consultation 
and collaboration. </blockquote>

“Equating processes to a lack of co-operation is therefore akin to creating a storm in a tea cup.”</blockquote>

A man who was contracted by a woman to kill her husband, the principal 
of Kiru Boys' Secondary in Kenya has been sentenced to seven years in 
jail. The culprit identified as Joseph 'Karis' Njuguna, appeared at the 
Kiambu High Court today where he pleaded guilty to manslaughter charges,

While handing down the sentence, High Court Judge, Joel Ngugi objected 
an application by the prosecution and the defence to have the accused 
given a non-custodial.<br />

They both made the request, arguing to the fact that Njuguna didn't 
directly take part in planning and executing the murder and have been 
remorseful in helping the prosecution's investigation to identify 
Mr.Mwangi's wife as the perpetrator.<br />

A Brooklyn cop, Officer Mike Smith shot himself dead after his 
relationship with his girlfriend and fellow cop hit the rocks. The 47yr 
old divorcee who was just few weeks away from retirement committed 
suicide on Tuesday night at the Manhattan Beach apartment he shared with
 his girlfriend, also a divorcee. Smith reportedly started dating his 
new girlfriend after separating from his wife, but it appears things

A Malawian police officer was recused from an angry mob who almost set 
him ablaze for breaking into a shop. The police officer identified as 
Raphael Banda and two of his accomplices from Ntcheu were allegedly 
caught by people trying to steal from a shop at Mtonda Trading Centre. 
According to Ncheu Police PRO, Hastings Chigaru who confirmed the 
incident, the police officer is at Ntcheu Police Station awaiting to be 
charged with an offence.<br />
