Britain faces freezing temperatures, sleet and snow this week

FREEZING winds from Russia will bring Britain a week-long early winter from tonight, with biting winds, frost and snow.
The ‘Beast from the East’, coming cold on the heels of our Indian summer, will see temperatures sink as low as -3C.

The mercury could drop still further as high pressure over Northern Europe drives the bitter winds across the country.
Conditions will start taking a turn for the worse from tonight and by Thursday Scotland’s Highlands could see the first of the snow, the Met Office said.

Expert Dean Hall said: “The next week will feel chilly and markedly colder than our nice recent weather.
“Very cold air is coming from Russia and eastern Europe. A few extra layers will certainly be needed.”
