Memories of the Hip-hop concert held at The Federal Palace Hotel,
Victoria Island, Lagos, last weekend, remain indelible in the minds of
hip-hop lovers who attended the show. As the event was coming to an end,
the emcee announced that the DJ would take the show to another level,
but unknown to him Naeto C, Mode 9, Jesse Jagz, Mr Raw and Ikechukwu
were at the backstage waiting to be called upon to perform.
They took turns to perform to a near empty hall. A large size of the audience had gone. While Naeto C was performing, the protocol officers of the show were busy dismantling the decorations used to adorn the hall. They were supposed to be the headliners of the concert, but they found themselves performing to a near-empty hall as many had taken their leave after feasting on the energetic performances of Vector, Falz that had CDQ and others.
The hall that had more than 500 people during the event was almost empty with less than 40 people while they were performing. From all indications, the people never knew they would be called upon to perform. Aside Naeto C, who performed with a live band, and Jesse Jagz, who spent more time on stage, the other artistes used less than 5 minutes each on stage. A lot of people who witnessed their performances were wandering why they were not called when the show was at its peak.
