Daddy fresh

He is the very person we know as Daddy Fresh and we love him to bits. Mention the real name of the Ajegunle maestro, Innocent Michael Onyemuwa, and somebody is very likely wonder who you’re talking about.

The handsome, “Elerugberu e” crooner, who hails from Abia State, sure owes his fans an explanation on why he has been off the screens for some time, and in musical exile.

To this he laughs and says: “Not an exile really; let’s use a better word and say Daddy Fresh went back to the drawing board and I have been there at the backdrop, still doing music in and out of Nigeria and music is still it. I am back fully now and dropping a single now.”

Sunday Sun had an encounter with the popular singer, who gave us a peek at his sheet of favourites. Excerpts…

Tell us your favourite food.

As an African, my favourite food ranges from our local fufu to rice and plantain. I just love Nigerian dishes, particularly soups like ofe achara, ofe okazi, ofe oha, eaten with fufu or garri.

How about your favourite colours?

My favourite colour has always been blue and white. I love sky blue and I love white too. Sometimes, I like to mix the two colours in my outfits.

Favourite outfit?

I love the sporty look and sometimes, I like to go corporate.

Favourite world leader?

Though, the one I would have mentioned is not alive now, Nelson Mandela, but United States President Barack Obama is a good leader. But if you ask me to name a perfect world leader, I would readily mention late Nelson Mandela.

Favourite friend?

That is my wife.

Drink?

I like champagne, as we don upgrade na.

Fashion gadgets?

I cannot really place my finger on any one in particular now. I love them all. I love the blings and I like it very smart. I love jewellery and crazy shoes, and these differentiate me from the ordinary man in the street.

Your favourite hangout spot?

When I am in Nigeria, I am a very private person, anyway. When I am not out there on stage, I like keeping it cool with my family and sometimes we do one or two moves. I like getting along with nature all the time.

Your favourite car?

I like it big oo! All the while, I have always driven SUVs. I have never driven a saloon car.

Favourite sport?

That is football. I grew up loving it and I played it to an extent. Till date, I love football. I am a Gunner. Arsenal is my club, in England, and in Spain, that is Barcelona.

Favourite comedian?

All of them, but I want to give it to my friend that we grew up together with and that is Ali Baba. I like him so much because he has been keeping it cool.

TV personality?

I like Frank Edoho of Who Wants to be a Millionaire. I love a host of them but I can always talk about those I am very close to. Internationally, I must confess that I have always been a fan of Oprah Winfrey’s show.

How about your favourite quote?

This is it: “Dem no dey tell deaf man say war don start”. Yeah, that is my favourite quote. You can also remember that in Elerugberu e.
