Suspect was said to have tried to mug someone at this junction

A SUSPECTED mugger died after a group of vigilantes pinned him down in the street.

The man, 30, was held down until police arrived following the robbery attempt at a busy road junction in Camden, North London.

Paramedics were called when he fell ill after being handcuffed but they could not revive him and he died later in hospital.

The case has been referred to the Independent Police Complaints Commission who are considering an investigation.

Rahill Negash, 25, saw the emergency services arrive and try to save the man at 11pm on Thursday.

She said: “I saw lots of police around a body on the floor. They had covered him but it seemed as if they were doing CPR.”

The IPCC said an assessment on whether an investigation will take place is underway.
