Dreams do come true! At least that can be said for French football club, Olympique Lyon's president, Jean-Michel Aulas, as he on Tuesday finished one of the biggest transfer deals in Women's football history- signing one the best strikers in the world, Alex Morgan after 'toasting' her on Twitter for a year.
Early this year, it was noticed that social media activity was occurring between Lyon President Aulas and one of the greatest and sexiest female strikers in football- Alex Morgan. Mind you, Aulas is 67 and married, while Alex is 27 years and is also married to football player Servando Carrasco, so when Aulas started Tweeting at her and mentioning her, tongues started to wag.
Aulas began his wooing of the player when he retweeted footballer Megan Rapinoe’s Instagram post about her teammate, Alex Morgan. Then months later when Lyon unveiled their brand new stadium, Aulas again mentioned Alex Morgan in a tweet saying 'the best women team in Europe is Olympique Lyonnais'
Three days later, he decided to make a serious move for the striker, mentioning her and Tweeting in French 'The best American players could play with the best European team: Olympique Lyonnais.'
Then three months later, around May, he now mentioned the striker again, after Lyon's Women's team won their domestic league.
Then, weeks later, in June, Aulas was back tweeting at Morgan, following France’sopening match at Euro 2016.
Lol. Even before and during the Olympics, Aulas still reached out to Morgan, urging her to join his club. On the 24th of August 24,he then reached out to her again after the US women’s team published a team photo.
In September, after her books were picked by Amazon for a show, Aulas Tweeted at her again, urging her to sign for the 'world's best team'- his team.
His last and final 'toasting' was last month, as Morgan indicated on Twitter she was set to vote in the then upcoming U.S elections, Aulas reached out to her saying
Fast forward to December, 20, 2016 and Alex Morgan, has signed a 6 months contract with Olympique Lyon's Women's team, after which she'll return to her main club, Orlando Pride FC.
