Super Eagles Chief Technical adviser Gernot Rohr has revealed that his team captain, John Mikel Obi is in advanced negotiations with top French club Olypique Marseille and could be set to live in January. Mikel, 29, has spent over 10 years at Chelsea, but has been frozen out of the side by new coach Antonio Conte, who hasn't named him in a match day squad this season, preferring the likes of N'Golo Kante, Nemanja Matic and even Cesc Fabregas in the center of the pack to the highly rated Nigerian midfielder, regarded as one of Nigeria's most decorated players of all time.

Mikel has 6 months left on his Chelsea contract and will become a free agent on July 1, 2017, but could leave the club this January if a suitable suitor comes for him. When asked about Mikel's contract situations at Chelsea by Europe 1, Gernot Rohr swiftly replied;
“I saw him in London. He is in advanced discussions with Marseille,”
Mikel has been linked with big money moves to China, Turkey and even manchester United.
