Abia State Police Command paraded suspected criminals, including thugs involved in the murder of a security guard and Mrs Amarachi Arioha, during a press briefing on November 29th, at the State Police Headquarters, Umuahia.

Four men involved in the case of Murder and Arson on the office of the Transition Chairman, of Isiala-Ngwa North Local Government Area, during the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) primaries for the forth coming Local Government Election were earlier paraded on November 9th. A security guard identified as Onyemaechi Onyeraro and Amarachi Orioha were killed and the chairman’s office set on fire.

On November 25, operatives attached to Anti-Kidnapping Section of State Criminal and Intelligence Department Umuahia, acting on a tip off arrested one CHIDI NJOKU ‘m’ aka OTOPE of Ariaria International Market Aba, who is alleged to be among the hoodlums.

Further briefing newsmen, the Commissioner of Police CP 'Leye Oyebade, said that operatives of the Command’s Rapid Response Squad, code named “DRAGON” stationed at Aba, acting on a tip-off also arrested one David Chibuikem Nwabueze “m” of No 19 Egbema Street, off Lekota Ogbor Hill, Aba. The suspect, a member of a four man robbery gang terrorizing residents of Ogbor Hill in has confessed to the crime and helping the Police in their effort in tracking and apprehending other members of his gang. A black Toyota Land Cruiser jeep with registration No. ABUJA RSH 810 PU was recovered from him.

On November 26, operatives attached to Central Police Station Aba, arrested one Okemiri Eberechukwu “m’ of Egbulu area Aba, who robbed residents of Aba of their handsets, money, computers and other valuables sometimes in October 2016, while dressed in military uniform,
Items recovered from him are: one hand set, one military trouser, one military sweater, one military head warmer, one military face towel and two wraps of weeds suspected to be hemp.

On November 28, operatives attached to Abayi Police Station Aba, Abia State, arrested one Ugochukwu Odike, 20, from Okpu-Umuobo, Aba, with one locally made pistol and a live cartridge. The suspect was arrested immediately after robbing two ladies of their handsets and other valuables in a narrow pathway beside Living Word Hospital, Aba.

The implementation of intelligence led policing of the force by Officers and men of the Central Police Station Aba, yielded a positive result on 27/11/2016, when patrol team arrested one Chijioke Stanley ‘m’ aka “OPUTA” of Samuel Adeotu Area of Ikotun, Lagos, who stole a wallet from a co-passenger in a tricycle at Aba, Abia State. The suspect who claimed to be a Police officer attached to the crime section of Area ‘M’ Lagos State Police Command was later found to be a fake Policeman.

Items recovered from him include: one Police warrant card bearing his photograph and name, two pieces of 10,000 CFA notes, five US Dollar in one Dollar denomination, two Airtel sim cards, one MTN sim card, two memory cards, one National Open University of Nigeria identity card belonging to one Ajayi Olugbenga, three phones and two wrist watches.

The robust synergy of the Command with other security outfits paid off on November 24, when security operatives attached to the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, Abia State, handed over four arrested suspected cultists to operatives of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Umuahia. 

The suspects are John Chigozie, 23 years, Ogbonna Ogbonna,21, Okechukwu James, 24, and Nwogu Tochukwu, 21. They are all students of the University and they confessed to being members of the VIKING CONFRATERNITY.

Items recovered from them include: two locally made single barrel short guns, two live cartridges and two expanded cartridges - all the exhibits were concealed in a bag specially designed for carrying weapons.

The Commissioner advised parents and guardians to warn their children of the dangers of cultism and discourage them from participating in it as cultism is an ill wind that blows no man no good.
