A 911 call captures the terrifying moment a pet shop owner was attacked by a 20ft python.
Terry Wilkins was cleaning out the reptile's cage when it wrapped itself around his neck and began to strangle him.
A woman in the store, in Newport, Kentucky, frantically called cops.
Luckily, they arrived quickly at the blood-spattered scene and managed to uncoil the python and put it back in its cage.
Lieutenant Rapberger described how they grabbed the snake's head and then "started pulling on the snake, kind of straightening it out".
The other officer, Sargent Arnberg "started loosening to coils around the guy, and finally the snake came out".
Wilkins was rushed to to hospital, where he is expected to make a full recovery.
As the python is not a pet, but a ‘breeder snake’, it has not been put down.
Even though the pet store, Captive Born Reptiles, claims that employees have over 30 years’ experience with snakes, it has been advised that this type of python should not be handled by humans.
