A PROMISING footballer has tragically died after suffering a series of heart attacks when he jumped into a swimming pool.
Jordan Burndred, 17, was on holiday with his family in Turkey when he leaped into the pool and began frantically clutching his chest.
The teenager, from Staffordshire, who plays for Leek Town under 18s, was able to reach the side of the pool but suffered further attacks and had to be resuscitated.
He spent a week in a coma fighting for his life at a Marmaris hospital, surrounded by his family.
Jordan’s heart-broken mother Nicola Everill wrote on Facebook this morning: “Me and my family would like to thank everyone for all their love and support throughout our nightmare.
“Jordan didn’t make it through the night and we as a family are devastated so once again thank you. But could we now have time to deal with our hearts being broken.”
Jordan had been on holiday with his mum Nicola, stepdad Danny Everill, sisters Jasmin, 19, and Daisy, three, as well as his uncle and grandparents.
A fund set up to support the family in paying for medical costs and accommodation had reached £10,700 by this morning.
