He sells sanctuary . . . Darren says only North Korea believe his story

POLICE probing a VIP child sex abuse ring faced serious questions last night as a vulnerable man at the centre of allegations said North Korea offered him asylum.

The 39-year-old, who uses the name Darren, says he was assaulted by Tory politicians at a central London flat.

He also says he was forced to take part in a satanic ritual at the French Embassy and claims to have been abused by Peter Righton, a former member of the Paedophile Information Exchange.

But Darren now refuses to co-operate with the Met or Suffolk Constabulary after his case was dropped following an 18-month probe.

It came after he refused to hand over medical records when he was asked about a history of mental health issues.

North Korean despot Kim Jong-un

Tory MP Andrew Rosindell said: “Police should use their common sense in a situation like this. It’s shocking that it can take up to 18 months to get here.

“Of course investigate claims but it doesn’t take very long to work out if a person is in need of help rather than following through accusations that would never stand up.”

Darren now says only North Korea believe his story and have invited him to live out his years in Kim Jong-un’s murderous regime.

He said: “The North Koreans made me laugh. Their Central News Agency got in touch to say I’m welcome any time in Pyongyang.

“I’m not going. You’ve got to be joking. Could you imagine?

“They felt awful for me and wanted to help. They said I could go over and spend as long as I want and they would offer therapy.

“They would give me a good life. Live there as long as I want. They said they’d look after me. They want to speak to other survivors as well. If my wife and kid left me I would think about it.”

It is the latest in a string of increasingly bizarre actions that cast doubt on Darren’s allegations.

Luxurious apartment block in Pimlico, central London, home to VIPs

Earlier this year, he made claims to news website Exaro that two kids were killed by the VIP ring.

But yesterday he told The Sun that the claims “all got out of hand” and “a bit hyped up”.

During our bizarre meeting, he claimed four police officers were in the same room and warned: “If I run, stay on my heels.”

He has claimed armed police officers had turned up at his house in a bid to “warn him off”.

And he believes he is being bugged and is being followed by a blonde woman in a black car.

A Panorama investigation to be screened tonight is expected to question the credibility of witnesses who have reported VIP abuse.

Darren insists that the BBC tried to press him into being interviewed for the programme.

But a spokesman for the show said there was no evidence to back up his claims and he will not feature on tonight’s programme.

The Met has admitted to having “grave doubts” over a second man called Nick who said he was abused by VIP paedophiles after initially saying he was a credible witness.

Jimmy Savile . . . DJ probed sparked claims

Darren first came forward in 2012 during the Jimmy Savile abuse scandal. He previously made allegations against his now dead father, a foster carer and sister.

Officers in Suffolk and the Met interviewed Darren at least four times in the past 18 months.

An email sent to him by an investigator and seen by The Sun says: “I totally believe you and the horrendous abuse you suffered.”

Darren’s allegations include:

— WITNESSING child abuse by a former Tory politician at his father’s house in the 1980s.

— BEING trafficked around children’s homes in England and Wales to be abused by paedophiles.

— SEEING abuse by a string of politicians, including the torture and rape of one girl, in the early 1990s at Dolphin Square flats in London, home to dozens of MPs and Lords.

— SUFFERING abuse by convicted paedophile and PIE member Peter Righton in the 1980s in Thornham Magna, Suffolk — where he claims victims’ bodies are buried.

— BEING forced to take part in a satanic ritual at the French Embassy in London in the 1980s.

But investigations found nothing to back up some of his claims.

Peter Righton . . . allegations against paedo

And they showed Darren was never at Thornton Magna at the same time as Righton.

Other men he claims abused him were also not in Suffolk at the time. There have now been two attempts to have Darren referred for mental health assessments and one over the safety of his child since he first spoke to police.

Darren was jailed for two years in the 1990s for making bomb hoaxes, criminal damage and extortion.

He said: “I’m not surprised they haven’t found any corroboration as they have not looked very hard.

“I came forward thinking I would be believed, now I’m being pilloried.

“All my allegations are completely true. I went through extraordinary experiences, horrendous torture and abuse. I’m not a liar.”

‘Shocking delay’

By ANDREW ROSINDELL, Conservative MP

POLICE spend a lot of time investigating accusations that are extremely serious and damaging.

But in so many cases they turn out to be false.

We shouldn’t spend so much time without making sure the person making accusations is capable of relaying the truth.

If someone has problems it shouldn’t take police that long.

We have a culture of accusations against people going back many years. Many are innocent and police should be cautious.

It doesn’t take long to work out if a person needs help rather than following through accusations that would never stand up.
