Collin, 25, is a keen surfer

A SURFER has had his left leg amputated after being savaged by a 10ft shark as he sat on his board waiting for a wave.

Collin Cook, 25, was attacked in waters off Oahu, Hawaii, where he lives.

Despite his horrific injuries, he managed to get to another surfer who took him to a nearby beach.
Collin’s cousin, Chris Webster, said: “He swam on his own free will to another surfer who threw him on his board and brought him straight to shore.

“The shark got him below the knee and it took off below the knee cap, but they had to take his leg above the knee so that was a little heart-breaking.”

A school of fish were seen jumping out of the water seconds before the shark - thought to be a Tiger or Galapagos - struck.

Lifeguards, meanwhile, are warning visitors to stay out of the ocean and signs have been posted along the beach.
