A WOMAN whose boyfriend savagely beat her because she wouldn’t give his phone back has got back together with him, a court has heard.
Kyle Illingworth, 24, was sentenced to five years in prison after he turned up at Livvy Heppell's house and attacked her.
When Livvy wouldn’t give Illingworth his phone back, he flew into a rage fuelled by drink and drugs before fleeing the scene.
Livvy was left with a broken jaw, nose and eye socket after he punched her and stamped on her head at the house in York in April.
Despite Livvy’s lengthy stay in an Intensive Care Unit at Leeds General Infirmary, the couple have got back together.
Judge Stephen Ashurst said the attack was “one of the worst examples” of GBH he had ever seen.
And he told Illingworth: "You are still only 24 years old and have an extremely bad record of offending.
"However the argument between you and your girlfriend started, however much you had been drinking or she had been drinking, you completely lost any self control.
"The photographs of her while she was in hospital, having been taken there from York to Leeds, are extremely disturbing.
"She was in intensive care and had to have plates fixed in her jaw to repair the damage, and from reading the evidence she had done nothing to justify that kind of pounding."
Illingworth pleaded guilty to GBH and was sentenced to five years, he will serve three years and nine months in custody and the remaining 15 months on licence.
