A CHILD died instantly when he was crushed on an escalator.
The little boy was with his mum and sister when he got caught on the moving handrail.
Despite the escalator being stopped immediately, the youngster was crushed between the rail and the ground.
He was dead before emergency services could reach him.
It is not believed the escalator, in the Hongqihegou metro station in South West China’s Chongqing municipality, was faulty.
This is the second fatal accident on a Chinese escalator since June.
She managed to save her child by throwing him to a pair of shop assistants before she was crushed to death.
