A heartbroken woman has told how her toyboy husband left for Asda one night and never returned – as he had moved in with his new lover.

Denise McIntyre, 54, of Tameside, Greater Manchester, has told her story on The Jeremy Kyle Show.

She married 40-year-old James – the son of a friend – in March 2000.

The pair enjoyed more than a decade of happiness together – before James left to upgrade the family's mobile phones and never came back.

When he did not come back from the “ten-minute trip” Denise was frantic.

With no telephone to call him and see where he was, she simply had to sit and wait.

DENISE McIntyre, 54, from Tameside, had been married to James, 40, for 15 years. He went to upgrade family's mobile phones and never came back

"One of his friends came round looking for James and I told him he wasn't in. He phoned him and it turned out he was at a friend's house and hadn't told me," she said.

"Although we were together, we didn't live together. He came round every day but he didn't always stay. I decided to play him at his own game and didn't contact him but days passed and I didn't hear a peep.

"Then I popped out to buy some milk one morning and bumped into a friend who said, 'Sorry to tell you this but I've heard James has a new girlfriend.

"I called him and shouted down the phone that he had been cheating but he didn't say anything.

"Just a fortnight after his trip to Asda, I caught him walking down the street with his new woman.

"I felt like I'd been kicked in the stomach.

"That afternoon, I heard through friends that they were shacked up together just a few streets away."
Denise – who suffers from a raft of health problems including arthritis, diabetes and asthma – tied the knot with James at Dukinfield Town Hall register office in Greater Manchester in March 2000.

"As I walked down the aisle in front of 100 of our friends and family, I felt on top of the world," Denise recalled. "After we read our vows, James whispered to me that he would never let me down again."

And her new husband remained true to his word – until that evening in October 2013 when he went to Asda.
When Denise confronted James about the reason for his betrayal, she was in for a shock.

She said: “He told me I was lazy and he wasn't happy. The betrayal was unthinkable.

"I tried my best around the house but I also suffer from fibromyalgia, which sometimes gets so painful I can't even feed myself."

James then asked for a divorce but Denise told him there was "no way in hell" she was signing the papers.

"I'm a Catholic, I believe marriage is for life," she said.

But in July this year, a producer on The Jeremy Kyle Show asked Denise if she would appear on an episode to sort the divorce once and for all.

She was also told that her ex was going to take a lie detector test to prove he had not entered into his new relationship until after the Asda trip.

But Jeremy dropped the bombshell on the show that James had REFUSED to take the test.

"He admitted on the show that he had gone to Asda and never come home, but he denied he'd slept with his new girlfriend before that," said Denise.

"But refusing the lie detector was proof enough for me. The filming ended with the pair saying they wanted to have kids – good luck to them.

"They walk past my house every day which is really tough but I just avoid them and stay inside. I'm hoping to move soon which will be my fresh start."
