» ‘FORGIVE US, DON!’ Nigel Farage returns to America to meet Donald Trump AGAIN – this time to apologise for all the negative things Brits have said about him
NIGEL Farage is flying back to the States to apologise to Donald Trump on behalf of Brits for “negative” comments made over here during the election.
The UKIP leader is hopping across the pond to ask US politicians to “forgive” some of the disparaging remarks made about the president elect over the course of his campaign.
Farage offered to help “formally or informally” to mend fences with the incoming administration blasting the UK Government for not already seeking his help.
He said: “I just think it’s ridiculous, petty and potentially against the national interest for our Government not even to ring me up to have a chat with me, let alone ask me to make some introductions.
“It isn’t just Trump, there are quite a few members of Trump’s team, people now taking quite senior positions, that I have known and got on with for years.”
During his radio show on LBC the MEP said regardless of what Theresa May’s team thought he would be heading over to the states at the end of this week.
Farage said: “Regardless of what Downing Street thinks, I’m going back to America at the end of this week, I’m going to meet all sorts of people and I shall say to them ‘regardless of whether the Government uses me or not, please forgive some of the things that were said about your president during the election campaign, it’s in both of our interests to get closer’.”
The Brexit campaigner acknowledged that The Donald may have ‘gone over the top’ during his victorious bid for the White House but said he would be a different president to how he appeared in the campaign.
Last week Trump tweeted that Farage would be a fine ambassador to Washington writing: “Many people would like to see @Nigel_Farage represent Great Britain as their Ambassador to the United States. He would do a great job!”
But Downing Street have poured cold water on the UKIP leader’s diplomatic hopes insisting there was “no vacancy”.
