All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Anambra State yesterday, rose stoutly in defence of its national leader and Governor of the state, Chief Willie Obiano, asking mischief-makers to steer clear of and allow the governor execute his lofty programmes for the state.
It specifically, warned the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and the Labour Party (LP) to desist from unwarranted attacks on Obiano or face the wrath of the party and Anambra people.
At a media chat yesterday at the state party secretariat in Awka, APGA state Publicity Secretary, Mr. Chinedu Nkwonta, stated that the two parties had recently constituted themselves into nuisance by attacking Governor Obiano without any cause.
Apparently referring to demand by both parties that Obiano should account for about N80 billion local government funds which they alleged had been misappropriated, and their claim that the Governor had dropped from the standards put in place by his predecessor, Mr. Peter Obi, in infrastructure development, Nkwonta described PDP supporters in the state as jobless people, having lost power at the centre, just as he said that LP was a party facing extinction.
The APGA state image maker, while describing the allegations of the two political parties as frivolous, ludicrous and concocted said: “Let me be clear on this, the honeymoon for these visionless and non-directional political parties and their cohorts is over; APGA can no more sit and watch them undermine the office of the governor with unfounded allegations.
“He that lives in a glass house should not be throwing stones. Enough of their nonsense, that APGA is a law abiding party does not give anyone the impetus to ride our leader and BoT Chairman, any negative attack on Obiano is an attack on APGA. It is an attack on the general integrity of the people of the state who are predominantly APGA members.

“Let me remind the dreamers once more that PDP does not exist in Anambra, what they have are bullies and intimidators that had in the past used the advantage of their control of the centre to defraud us during elections.
“APGA is fully awake now, be rest assured that such can never happen again in Anambra. Labour party has gone extinct, no need to push it. The essence of opposition is to have a party that is consistently observant of the policies of government and to detect any type of policy, project or action that would be tantamount to the progress of the state.”
