A pal walked in on them in the bedroom and David, 42, himself later saw them hugging and kicked out Hackett.
The teen returned a short time later armed with a kitchen knife and stabbed David to death, the jury heard.
Prosecutor Sam Green QC said: “The prosecution case is that the person who stabbed David Savage more than once killing him was this young man in the dock, Callum Hackett.

“He was the killer. He had that knife and he used it to bring about the death of David.”
David and Donna, 33, were hosting an impromptu party with three pals at their home in Gosforth, Newcastle, in September last year as Hackett was hanging around on the street outside with a group of youths.
Mr Green said: “It was spur of the moment drinking and socialising.
“Come midnight they wanted more alcohol and cigarettes.
“Some went to Asda but one friend Corrina Crossling went home for cigarettes.
“She noticed a group of noisy young lads and went over to them to ask them to leave.

“One hung back, Callum Hackett, and they ended up chatting.
“He apologised for the bother and ended up going to her house to smoke some cannabis.
“The defendant was then invited back to the party.
“Neither David nor the friends had met him before.
“At first they got on fine, they were drinking and some were taking cocaine.
“Then at some point Callum followed Donna Hawthorn upstairs where they had sex.

“Corrina went upstairs, looked in the bedroom and saw them in some sort of intimate clinch.
“She suggested they should get back downstairs.
“When they had finished they went back downstairs and Mr Savage saw them embrace.
“Perhaps unsurprisingly that caused a change in his mood towards the defendant and he asked him to leave.
“The defendant left and returned some time later saying he had left a pair of gloves.
“He waited outside while those inside looked but was told they could not be found.
“He became angry and there was an altercation and he ran away.
“He obtained a knife, returned to Mr Savage’s home and stabbed him and killed him and for the second time that night ran away.”
A number of CCTV clips from nearby cameras were shown to the jury in which two youths could be seen collecting an item from a house.
One hid down the back of his trousers and headed in the direction of David’s house just two minutes before the fatal attack.
Mr Green said: “We say that was Callum Hackett.
“What was the item he put down his pants? We say it was a knife.”
Police later found the murder weapon in nearby bushes with David’s DNA on it.
In police interview Hackett, now aged 18, denied being present when David was attacked.
He later admitted being there but claimed another youth, who cannot be named for legal reasons, did the stabbing. Hackett denies murder.
The trial continues.
