LORD Sugar fired two candidates in the first double firing of this year’s The Apprentice series after one of the worst results in the show’s history.
After a loss of more than £40,000 the cut-throat elimination saw losing project manager Karthik Nagesan fired before the final deliberation even took place.

Samuel Boateng promptly following for what Lord Sugar dubbed a “diabolical” effort on the boat show sales task.
IT consultancy owner Karthik confessed it was a “s*** storm” after the boss of the boardroom asserted it was one of theworst results in the show’s history.
Karthik, 33, admitted: “I had a deplorable day at work leading Team Titans, a very bad day as a project manager. Not only that, I also dragged someone else down with me. When I exit, it’s a big scene.”

Team Titans only managed to bring in £188.90 worth of sales, failing to sell any of their jet skis, which was considered thebest high ticket item to sell on the day.
Team Nebula had already brought in more than this on their accessories sales alone, cashing in £2,580.68 on snorkels, backpacks and paddle boards. Then they secured two bumper boat sales, which brought their total up to £40,480.68.

Karthik said his “babbling on” in the boardroom is the main reason Lord Sugar fired him.
He said: “I have a feeling that I pushed Lord Sugar into a corner. I think he fired me on emotion rather than logic. That’s my fault. I went into save myself at all costs mode. I was like that person stuck in quick sand – the more they struggle the more they sink. I should have said that while they won by £40,000, it was actually only two more sales than our zero on the jet skis.

“Personally, I think if he’d thought about it – and I’d hung back – he would have looked around the table and realise there’s weaker people than Karthik around the table.”
Lord Sugar said Karthik “couldn’t be trusted” to choose which two candidates to bring back into the boardroom.
This left remaining team members Courtney Wood, 29, Samuel Boateng, 27, Grainne McCoy, 31, Alana Spencer, 24, and Dillion St Paul, 37, to battle it out.

And despite his nautical surname, it was Samuel who promptly followed Karthik out of the door after failing to push for a chance to sell the high ticket items, which is his area of expertise.
He drew further criticism for then discounting the accessories without consulting the rest of the team.
But despite his faults, Samuel blamed Karthik’s inability to listen for their failure.

Samuel said: “He didn’t manage people correctly. As project manager he should have delegated the right individuals working with the right team. It was a £40,000 loss, so that was the reason for the loss of the task and that lies solely at his feet.”
And while Karthik regretted not stripping his trousers off to flog more towels – “I could have tried it” – his teammate is relieved he didn’t resort to such tactics to try and win.
Samuel laughed: “I’m grateful he didn’t. It wouldn’t have sold £40,000 worth of fish-shaped cushions and towels.”
